About the session

The 2016 Low Carbon Networks & Innovation Conference provides an opportunity to explore the key learnings from electricity and gas network innovation projects. The programme will provide unparalleled networking opportunities in addition to project focused presentations and workshops.

Co-hosted by Electricity North West and taking place at the iconic Manchester Central, the LCNI Conference will be held on 11-13 October 2016. The conference and exhibition will be the UK's must-attend electricity and gas network innovation event for 2016.

    Jenny Woodruff has more years of experience in the energy industry than she’d like to admit to. Originally joining Midlands Electricity she has enjoyed a range of roles in electricity distribution including 11kV operational experience, managing substation maintenance and replacement, developing control room software, business ownership of engineering systems, developing network strategy and work in regulation.Now working in the Future Networks team, and a self-confessed “dataholic”, Jenny’s projects aim to meet the challenges and opportunities of moving to low carbon technologies and smart grids. She’s particularly interested in improving forecasting substation demand and exploiting the network monitoring data available from recent projects and preparing for the possibilities of smart meter data.

    Western Power Distribution, Policy Manager

    Paul has worked in the electricity industry since graduating in 1988. He joined the South Western Electricity Board in the nationalised industry, and has experienced the changes through privatisation and separation. He remains with his original employer, now Western Power Distribution and part of the NYSE listed PPL group.Paul trained as an operational engineer and experienced all aspects of distribution network maintenance, replacement and construction. In 1995 he became a Distribution Manager and was responsible for service delivery and operations and performance in a geographical patch which covered most of Devon.In 2011 Paul left his operational roots to take up responsibility as Policy Manager for WPD. The role is key to WPD’s approach to innovation as it brings together the work of the Future Networks Team with the more traditional elements of management of an electricity distribution network.
