New, novel and safety-related: developing in-wheel motors for electric vehicles

ISO 26262 is a standard dealing with the functional safety of road vehicles. This presentation covers: working with ISO 26262; Protean Electric's innovative approaches as a company and at product-level; considering the ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle paradigm (the assumptions that the standard makes about a company, its product and its processes). Bridging the gap (the challenges facing Protean Electric given the relative immaturity the company and its product); and how a young company can successfully develop a safety-related product to comply with ISO 26262.
