New Electrical Machines for Renewable Energy Generation

This keynote address discusses new electrical machines for renewable energy generation. The speaker's work on permanent magnet machines has evolved to the development of a novel permanent magnet machine topology that is suitable for both rotary and linear machines. This project has recently attracted funding from Scottish Enterprise under the Proof of Concept Programme. The speaker is establishing an electrical machines and drives test facility at Edinburgh for both rotary and linear machines.
