Abstract
Football is the most popular sport on the planet. But what happens when humans eventually swap Earth-living for out-of-space accommodation? With the 2025 Lunar mission making space habitation one step closer and all eyes on the Women’s World Cup and the Lionesses over the summer, we wanted to find out just how feasible it would be to take the beautiful game to space and whether there’s a future for Lunar Football. Working with engineers to realistically imagine what Lunar football may look like, and how it could be played – we then needed a kit. So, we challenged children across the UK to design the first ever home and away kits for our Lunar team: Moon United! Seven-year-old Ishaani and thirteen-year-old Erim have been announced as our winners!
