The conference also discussed how significant findings and learning from these projects will be transferred to business as usual.

The event took place at the state-of-the-art ACC Liverpool on 24-26 November and was co-hosted by SP Energy Networks. With over 1000 delegates from 23 different countries and over 70 exhibitors, the LCNI Conference was the UK's largest smart grid event for 2015.

Innovate UK, Lead Technologist - Energy Systems

I recently joined the Energy team Innovate UK focussing specifically on energy systems, joining the dots and helping glue together the technical and commercial solutions and jigsaw pieces that our energy system needs. Before this I lead the technology and innovation team at the Energy Innovation Centre, a not for profit organisation funded by the UK electricity and gas distribution companies. The EIC is dedicated to finding, shaping, funding and project managing technologies and innovations on behalf of its industry partners to help them deal with the many varied challenges facing the networks such as dealing with an increasingly diverse energy mix, and an aging asset base.My background spans engineering, project management, manufacturing, marketing, intellectual property and innovation management. In 2008 I was named by Intellectual Asset Manager magazine as one of the top 250 World IP strategists, one of only 12 people in the UK to be named, and the only person from the UK university sector. I founded the Knowledge Vine technology network and was one of the co-founders of the International Intellectual Property Strategists Association (INTIPSA).
