About the session

Knowledge nomads are highly skilled and highly mobile people. Innovative economies need them, but we know little about what motivates them and what policy can do to attract them. Demos' Knowledge Nomads report looks at flows of skilled people into and out of the UK, and delves beneath headlines on immigration to examine highly skilled migrants' origins, motivations and experiences. It argues that the mobility of scientists and entrepreneurs is vital to innovation in science and technology, and to the UK economy overall. The speakers join together in discussing the UK's ability to attract talent in a highly-competitive global market, particularly in light of recent changes to UK immigration rules.
