About the session

We are proud to present to next John Logie Baird Lecture which will focus on how television is evolving and exploring the new technologies.

Television is evolving as new technologies change how, when, where and on what we watch our favourite programmes. In this years JLB lecture we will explore these new technologies and see how they are changing our viewing habits, expectations and what we can expect next. Topics will include the increasing role of IP distribution both in managed IPTV environments and unmanaged OTT delivery over the public internet.

What role will traditional broadcast networks play in the future? How will time-shifting and on-demand viewing alter the traditional linear channel and the role of broadcasters? Will UltraHD TV help sustain the dominance of the large screen TV in our living rooms or will viewing increasingly migrate to tablets, smartphones and PCs and what will the increasing use of personalisation technologies mean for TV as a social and communal experience?
