Abstract
The IET, with the help of funded projects and industry support can introduce more young people to STEM through globally renowned programmes such as FIRST LEGO League. With the help of SAGE funding, we've positively impacted over 14,100 children in the North East of England from across 48 schools - giving children invaluable experiences they may not have been able to have without funding.
The importance of inspiring more young people to choose STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects and related degree courses or apprenticeships to bridge the skills gap in UK industry is widely recognised and has never been more important for the future of our profession.
The IET is passionate about the future of engineering and believes every child deserves access to high-quality STEM education. We’re committed to reducing STEM inequality and closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers and that’s why we’re working with industry to give more children an opportunity to engage with STEM learning.
We know that one STEM experience can change a young person’s career path and, by inspiring the next generation from an early age, we can enable young engineering talent to reach their full potential.
We are looking to work with companies and organisations who share this vision and want to fund STEM projects and programmes in schools.
