About the session

Exploring the strategies and technologies helping to reduce our carbon emissions, cut the gap between design intent and in use, and create a more sustainable built environment.

The Construction 2025 industrial strategy target of a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions remains an ambitious one. Innovation and technology will play a pivotal role in helping make this target achievable. As outlined in the Government Construction Strategy Government contracts will encourage innovative sustainability solutions on carbon reduction where value can be demonstrated. Additionally a robust approach to the measurement and analysis of sustainability indicators will be taken to improve the efficiency of the public sector estate. Encompassing the full lifecycle of built assets, including: construction, operation, refurbishment, demolition and/or re-commission for alternate use.

In the private sector there are also huge gains to be made in cost savings, efficiencies and new revenue streams. But also in the value placed on sustainability by owners and occupiers looking to create healthy and sustainable places to live, work, and play. Monitoring and data analysis has created much greater transparency providing greater assurity and fewer places to hide as we seek to lesson our impact on the environment.

This panel will showcase a number of ways in which we can use technology and innovation to help driving a more sustainable built environment. Offering an insight in to the strategies you can employ in your own organisation and projects.
