Abstract
The Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) Innovation Policy Panel hosted an innovation-themed conference on 26 November 2018 at IET London: Savoy Place.
Representatives from UK government, industry and academia were in attendance for open discussion with audience members on a variety of key innovation areas based around the five pillars of the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
There were also keynote addresses from Patrick Vallance, Government Chief Scientific Adviser; Rebecca Endean, UKRI Strategy Director; and Vincent Tang from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
In this video, filmed at the event, Dr Joanna Cox, Head of Strategic Engagement and Partnerships at the IET and Dr Devaki Bhatta from the Innovation Policy Panel talk about the importance of innovation, the challenges that the UK is currently facing in this space and how the conference addressed these topics and more.
