IP Crypto and Security Architectures for Satellite Networks

Satellite communications are an essential part of UK military deployments, providing a global beyond-line-of-sight command and control capability, for all levels, ranging from headquarters to individual patrols. The UK ministry of defence SKYNET 5 programme has been operating successfully since February 2005 and provides a one stop shop approach for satellite communications equipment services. These services range from providing satellite bandwidth only to supplying the user terminal and associated modems and encryption devices that enable in theatre access to desk top network services.
