About the session
IET and UKSpace Webinar
The UK has ambitious plans to grow its share of the global space economy, becoming a key player and innovator in space. The national space strategy lays out a clear vision where a collaborative approach from our government, agencies, expert institutions, commercial businesses and research sector brings together civil and defence activities. The lower costs and technological advances have allowed the commercialisation of space resulting in a strong and growing UK space sector. There is greater opportunity for innovators and investment in new technologies and capabilities, but it isn’t always easy for new players to enter the field and to find the necessary funding. During our panel discussion Air Vice-Marshal Paul Godfrey OBE, Commander of the UK Space Command, together with Allen Antrobus, Director Military Space at Airbus Defence and Space, Patrick Cahill from the Cabinet Office, Prof Yang Gao, head of STAR LAB and Paulina Tenner, founder of GrantTree, will discuss the importance and challenges of becoming an innovator in the space sector. The discussion will be moderated by Doug Liddle from In-Space Missions and Paul Wells, Chair of the IET’s Satellite Technical Network. Following the panel discussion we will showcase new innovative technology from 7 SME’s.
