    Innovate UK, Chief Development Officer

    Kevin Baughan is the Chief Development Officer of Innovate UK. His role is focused on developing Innovate UK’s overall investment portfolio as well as growing the level of investment partnerships. Before taking up the position as CDO, Kevin was Innovate UK’s Director of Technology and Innovation with responsibility for competition programmes across all sectors of the economy.Kevin has an extensive track record in leading edge innovation in the telecommunications industry. Including leadership roles with BT, Nortel Networks and Virgin Media, where he pioneered the transition to superfast broadband in 2008, the migration to connected TVs in 2010 and the roll out of WiFi across the London Underground in time for the 2012 Olympics.Kevin has a BSC from Birmingham University in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, an MSC from Aston University in Computer Science and an MBA from Imperial College. From 1995 to 2008 Kevin was an honorary professor at the University of Birmingham and co-founded with the University staff a pioneering start-up which developed highly resilient network technologies with investment funding from the US Air Force research labs.
