Abstract
In the first chapter of the book, Esso is in the West End with a group of friends, some of whom are affiliated with a gang. They came across someone in a rival gang and surrounded him. Someone from the back of the crowd then runs up and slaps the person they were picking on which Esso gets in the middle of to diffuse the situation. Given that this is something Femi experienced in real life, he finds it funny that some people call the scene unrealistic but agrees that it doesn't make sense.
