This presentation is an introduction to the technical and commercial problems of the Flexible Plug-and-Play research project, which is looking at how to improve the connection of renewable energy generation to electricity distribution networks in the UK.

    UK Power Networks, Future Networks Team, Low-Carbon Senior Project Manager

    Flexible Plug and Play Project Director, UK Power Networks Sotiris Georgiopoulos is a Low Carbon Senior Project Manager within Future Networks at UK Power Networks with responsibility for developing and delivering smart grid projects. He is currently the Project Director of the flagship LCNF project 'Flexible Plug and Play Low Carbon Networks'. Sotiris has previously worked in a number of engineering project management roles in the UK electricity generation and distribution industry. Prior to joining the Future Networks team in June 2011, Sotiris was part of the UK Power Networks' 2012 Infrastructure Delivery team where he was responsible for project delivery of HV and HV/LV substations and the grid connections for the two CHP centres in the Olympic Park. Sotiris received his BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology in 2003 and his MSc in Energy Systems and Management from the University of Dundee in 2004.
