Abstract

In this #EngShort we look at the transition to #NetZero #GreenhouseGas #Emissions and the role people and #technology play. The transition to net zero relies on both technological and behavioural change. Technology enables us to drastically reduce our dependence on #FossilFuels by shifting our #Energy demand to sustainable energy carriers such as electricity from renewable sources and #lowcarbon #hydrogen. The UK Climate Assembly in 2020 has shown that if people understand what is needed and why, if they have options and can be involved in decision-making processes, then they will support the transition to net zero. Do you think a better understanding of energy technologies will help us decarbonise the energy system? Comment below to let us know your thoughts.
You can also read our guide for facts on net zero energy technologies as well as thorough explanations on the different net zero technology options for the energy sector: www.theiet.org/tech-for-net-zero
