A simplified and polarization-insensitive coherent intradyne detection for 56-Gb/s/λ PAM-4 PON is experimentally demonstrated by using real-valued Alamouti coding combined with digital pilot. Over 42 and 41 dB power budgets are achieved after 20-/50-km SSMF transmission under the 7% FEC threshold respectively.
