Alan has 40 years experience in AC and DC electrification working mainly in project engineering for major schemes and new electrification, including DC upgrade works for Channel Tunnel, Southern Power Supply Upgrade and Thameslink. More recently he has worked on the Great Western Electrification Programme where he led the engineering development of an IEC61850 integrated protection and control scheme for Rationalised Autotransformer System (RATS) covering some 30 25kV traction substations.
