About the session

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel transmission technique that employs bipolar pulse amplitude modulation (BPAM) and direct detection (DD). Compared to conventional IM/DD systems the proposed BPAM/DD technique provides 4.5dB OSNR gain and a good tolerance to group velocity dispersion with only a small additional complexityWe propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel transmission technique that employs bipolar pulse amplitude modulation (BPAM) and direct detection (DD).
