    Jonathan Holvey

Health and Safety Executive, Head of the Gas & Pipelines Unit

Jonathan Holvey joined in HSE in 1990 as a trainee factory inspector and spent the first part of his career in the Northwest based out of HSE’s Manchester office. During this time he focussed on the regulation of health and safety in the plastics, rubber and textile manufacturing, including a two year period in a chemicals group prior to the formation of HID. He moved to London in the late 90s where he gained experience in printing, fairground safety and local authority inspection. The latter led to a secondment to HSE policy unit dealing with the regulation of local authorities in the early 2000s. He then managed a HSE general inspection team covering northwest London 2004 – 2009/10. Then in 2010-13 he worked on loan to the DWP providing advice to the Minister of Employment where he was involved in the Government led Lofstedt and Triennial Reviews and subsequent implementation. He then re-joined HSE as the Head of Operations for Eastern England in 2013, before taking up his current post as Head of the Gas & Pipelines Unit in March 2015.
