Antennas and Technologies for the Communication Future

This lecture consists of two parts. First, it explores the state of the art in today's antenna technology for mobiles. This includes not only handsets but also new systems that are expected to arrive with the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and wireless local area networks (WLAN). The second part concentrates on the ultra wide band technology. This fairly new technology asks for many new approaches, not only in the field of system design and propagation but also for the hardware and antennas.
