Control is a generic discipline whose application potential is becoming increasingly realised over a wide range of areas with the advances in both analytical techniques and implementation hardware. This lecture assesses progress in the control of uncertain systems, from traditionally important areas such as those in the aerospace and automotive industries to more recent areas such as the analysis of Internet protocols and air traffic control systems, and even in systems biology.
