This presentation describes the contributions by many experts from IMEC (the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre) to wireless and design technology. It discusses standards for a variety of services and environments, including software-defined radios (SDRs) to enable seamless connectivity at low cost. Design for wireless standards is a moving target. Wireless system designers are being sent to the Hell of physics! The energy gap is growing. It is critical to set up a top-down hardware/software co-design flow. Where does the power go? Where do you need flexibility? The speaker describes a heterogeneous microprocessor SoC for SDR baseband, and discusses optimized flexibility vs. energy.
