Abstract
We’re one of the world’s oldest professional institutions and have a global community of incredible volunteers, members and partners spanning all disciplines of engineering and technology, and we’ve come a long way since our foundation as the Society of Telegraph Engineers in 1871.
In this video, we’ve consolidated the histories of our most recent predecessors – the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE), which merged to form the IET in 2006. Take a tour through time with us and explore the 40+ predecessor organisations which have made us who we are today.
