Simple pre- and post-compensation DSP is shown to efficiently enable 50-Gbps PAM4 and electrical duobinary modulation with LR8 power budget and 10km of fibre using a lumped silicon photonic MZM which being a capacitive load presents a lower energy consumption compared to 50-Ω terminated modulators.
