Abstract
In this #EngShort we look at the migration from no #electricity to plentiful, reliable, #AffordableElectricity, which is not a smooth one. Most of us are familiar with #12V direct current or DC that is used in cars and boats. We also have 110 or #230V alternating current used in #ACGrid electricity. We are interested in the gap between these two as 12VDC is limited in power and grid AC is often unnecessarily powerful and unaffordable. A proactive approach is needed to create a new electrical ecosystem such as #48VDC. 48VDC can optimise the local grid to supply DC power to DC devices directly. It is safer than mains electricity and cost-effective.
