Abstract
The IET and IMechE came together to discuss what the future manufacturing engineer might possibly look like. This resulted in a survey with questions targeted to gauge an understanding of what engineers in the sector think.
At Smart Factory Expo in 2021 we spoke with Sarah Black-Smith, Head of Factory Operations at Siemens Congleton, to learn more about the findings of the survey.
She discusses:
- Which technical knowledge and soft skills will manufacturing engineers need to thrive and survive in the next 10 years?
- What do we need to do to engineer a more sustainable future for manufacturing?
- What will manufacturing engineers need to know come 2040?
