Abstract
At Smart Factory Expo in 2021 we asked manufacturing industry experts what they believed were the main opportunities for UK manufacturers today, post-Brexit, post Covid-19, and post COP26.
The majority of respondents discussed embracing digital technologies as the key opportunity for manufacturers in reducing energy consumption. Other responses include:
Robotics providing a range of new opportunities in terms of automation, assembly, sustainability.
Automation solving labour challenges which is important for not only the economy but people as well.
Government can equip people with the right skills, tax incentives, and innovation funding.
With the right attitude, embracing new technologies will allow manufacturers to move towards smart manufacturing, using data and analytics to understand their resource use, products and customers.
