Abstract

At Smart Factory Expo in 2021 we asked a variety of manufacturing industry experts what challenges or pain points they were currently facing. Interviewees shared that the challenges went beyond surviving the pandemic, and now lead to thriving and building back better. These include:

Creating new products and services to take to new markets.

How manufacturers can play a role in achieving the UK’s very ambitious net zero targets.

Current labour challenge whether that be access to labour or the cost of labour.

Supply chain resilience – getting hold of materials, material cost etc.

Role and benefits of automation and robotics.

To learn more on this subject and tackling these challenges, read our latest report at www.theiet.org/the-future-manufacturing-engineer
