Abstract
Summary of the challenge:
To create an on board device, which can accurately and actively gauge the load weight in a Toyota Land Cruiser or similar vehicle. This device will enable the driver to visually identify when the vehicle is safely loaded and alert the driver if the vehicle is overloaded.
Weigh2Go operates by creating a sinusoidal oscillating force which vibrates the vehicle over a range of frequencies. The resulting vibrations are measured and recorded using an accelerometer. From these measurements, it is possible to estimate the loading of the vehicle by using a mathematical model, implemented in a microcontroller. This data is then sent to a display unit, visible to the driver. Audible signals are also given by the device based on the load.
