About the session

UK Hub for Research Challenges in Hydrogen and Alternative Liquid Fuels

TrackHydrogen

Tim Mays, Bath University/UK Hy-Res.UK

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funds UK-HyRES  (https://www.ukhyres.ac.uk) on new hydrogen research, with a focus on supporting the country’s target of net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.

This  presentation will give details of UK-HyRES with the aim of further stakeholder engagement in a topic area of importance and impact for mitigating catastrophic global climate heating.

UK-HyRES – the UK Hub for Research Challenges in Hydrogen and Alternative Liquid Fuels – aims to identify, prioritise and seek solutions to research challenges trait will enable and accelerate the uptake and deployment of sustainable hydrogen technologies in the essential low carbon transition away from fossil fuels.  The Hub covers the entire value chain from production, storage, distribution and end use.  This involves integration and assessment of the social, economic and environmental impacts of the research together with safety considerations.  The Hub currently involves 25 researchers and team members engaged in 15 projects at seven partner universities, led by the speaker at the University of Bath.  The Hub is growing significantly via a flexible fund to support new projects.
