About the session

Panel Debate: Utilising data, cyber and blockchain

What does a utility fit for the 21st century look like? This session will address questions around how the utilities are changing and adopting new business models in order to ensure their survival and set the foundations for them to flourish. It will ask how utilities can transition from their 19th century roots and institutionalised in the old way of thinking, to a more dynamic and flexible business.

As an advocate for market data transparency he has used ElectraLink’s unique visibility of the billions of messages exchanged between energy market participants to create previously unavailable data insight. These services are now improving market efficiency, facilitating innovation and reducing costs to energy consumers.Before joining ElectraLink, Stuart was the Commercial Director of BT’s largest financial services client and Chief Operating Officer of its health division. He joined BT following its acquisition of Infonet, a US-quoted provider of outsourced IT and network services, where he was Managing Director of its UK subsidiary. Earlier in his career, Stuart led the growth of a number of technology businesses in Asia and EMEA and completed several corporate acquisitions and disposals.Stuart holds an Economics degree from Durham University and a MBA with Distinction from INSEAD.
