    Tobi Babalola is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). A master’s degree holder in Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Management Studies, he is an ardent power sector professional with technical, commercial and management knowledge and experience. Tobi brings knowledge of distribution network operation, particularly, network system architecture, remote control and data acquisition.A recognised thought leader on the application of innovative solutions to network distribution challenges from low carbon technologies, he also brings experience of project management across the project life cycle including project design and origination, funding (innovation funding), development, delivery and deployment.Tobi has extensive expertise in electric vehicles, heat pumps, small storage and small scale generation and is responsible for exploring the impact of these technologies on the distribution network and to explore the opportunities for smart systems to optimise their energy demands.

He is a chartered electrical engineer and previously worked in other industries including 9 years in Water and 6 years in Rail

    VINCI Energies UK & ROI, Director

    Simon Innis is a Director at VINCI Energies UK & ROI, a global engineering and energy networks business that provides the expertise in connecting electrical, communication and industrial networks in the UK and Ireland. He is also the Managing Director of Omexom UK & ROI, VINCI Energies’ electrical infrastructure engineering business. Simon first joined Powerteam (later rebranded as Omexom) in 2006 and has worked in a number of commercial and financial roles at the company. He was first appointed to the Board of VINCI Energies UK & RoI in 2013. As Managing Director, Simon is responsible for developing and leading the strategy of Omexom’s network of business units and spearheading the company’s growth in the UK and Ireland. He also leads Omexom’s efforts to enter new markets and is at the forefront of expanding VINCI Energies’ work on energy storage and smart grids. Simon was educated in Nottingham and Belfast. He is a Chartered Accountant and has more than 20 years of experience in the utilities sector.

    Scottish and Southern Electricity Network, Head of Asset Management and Innovation

    Stewart has worked in the electricity industry since 1983 and has been involved in managing electricity networks across the UK, in a range of roles including: operations manager, planner, policy engineer and project manager (IT and Power Engineering).Stewart is a Fellow of the IET and a Chartered Engineer.He is now the Head of asset management and innovation, within Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks with the remit of introducing new and better ways of managing the electricity networks, and translating these new ideas into business as usual.A key part of Stewart’s role is as project director for SSEN’s New Thames Valley Vision (NTVV), Northern Isles New Energy Solutions project (NINES) and more recently the first business as usual deployment of a Constraint Managed Zone in the UK (CMZ).These projects include monitoring, active network management, analytics and modelling, frequency responsive demand and some of Europe’s largest embedded energy storage facilities. Converting innovative solutions into business as usual is central to his role, initiatives such as Constraint Managed Zones are allowing solutions like energy storage and demand side management to establish them in the networks market place something that Stewart is passionate about.
