Abstract
Assistive Technology (AT) allows a person to become independent in the home, school, and community. AT has great benefits for people with disabilities. In the UK, it is thought that some seven million people of working age have a disability, which all adds up to an awful lot of spending power. This is known as the "purple pound" and is reckoned to be worth around £249bn to the economy. In this video, actor David Proud take us on trip around Naidex to highlight his top picks of the exhibition. Naidex is Europe's most comprehensive disability and independent living event for trade, healthcare professionals and end-users. Taking place at Birmingham's NEC, Naidex gathers innovation, information, suppliers, and inspirational speakers from around the world, over the two day event. The assistive technology examples that David has picked range from wheelchair attachments and technologies to wheelchair accessible motorhomes.
