About the session

This presentation: outlines the current state of security in mobile devices; addresses why current security solutions pose problems for users, enterprise developers, third-party application providers and other stakeholders; and provides background information on the industry's initiative to extend the open-standard security architecture to support mobile technology in the development of the MTM (Mobile Trusted Module). The MTM is a mobile version of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) which has shipped on more than 600 million platforms. The TPM provides standards-based security capabilities such as secure storage, isolated encryption and key generation. The speaker illustrates how the MTM enables device authentication and integrity, along with many other security-based applications. He provides a case for how the convergence of functions across all devices will require interoperability and common management - which Trusted Computing Group's standards and technologies are designed to provide.
