Traditionally the oil & gas industry has reacted to preservation issues once they had been identified. For BP Clair Ridge the decision was taken to be proactive to prevent the issues that have previously dogged these projects. This presentation will cover the drivers for that decision as well as the challenges that were overcome to preserve the production platform’s
48,000 tonnes of topsides equipment during the; storage, construction and fabrication phases in South Korea, transportation to the North Sea, through stages to final handover to operations. Lessons learned and relevance for other industries will also be discussed.
