    Tony Glover

    ENA, Director of Policy

    Tony has a background in Whitehall and Westminster, having worked at the heart of government for two chief whips as well as a spell in 10 Downing Street. Since 2003 he has worked for the electricity and gas sector through Energy Networks Association (ENA). He was also from 2008?2012 the spokesman for all the utilities on street works issues. He is currently Director of Policy where he is responsible for the Communications, Policy, Regulation, European and Gas teams. He has led the campaign to address the scourge of metal theft by changing the scrap metal law. He also chairs the EU wide GEODE Future of Gas Group. He sits on the Board of the Gas Industry Safety Group and the Advisory Board of the Energy Innovation Centre.

    David Parkin

    National Grid, Director of Gas Distribution Network Strategy

    A Chartered Mechanical Engineer, David started his career in the Aerospace and Defence Sector in 2000 with BAE Systems. After roles on Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35 and the Airbus A400M Programme he left in 2008 to join the Energy Sector. He worked with engineering consultancy Atkins from 2008 to 2014, culminating in a role of Director, Power and Renewables. During his time with Atkins, David attained an MBA, with the Sloan Fellows Programme in Innovation and Global Leadership, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.In August 2014, David joined National Grid as Director, Network Strategy, Gas Distribution and is responsible for engineering leadership of the four Gas Distribution Networks owned and operated by National Grid. Across the four networks National Grid have approximately 134,000km of pipeline at a range of pressure tiers transporting gas to 10 million consumers. Specifically, David’s team are responsible for Engineering Policy, Network Integrity, Network Design, Control Room Operations and Network Investment and Innovation.David is married, with two young daughters and lives in Stratford upon Avon.

    Wales & West Utilities, Head of Regulation and Commercial

    Steve joined the gas industry in 1992 as a Finance Graduate and now has 23 years’ experience in the sector. Steve has been closely involved in the Ofgem review of the RPI-X, resulting in the “RIIO” form of regulation. Steve led the first “RIIO” business plan submission for Wales & West Utilities resulting in an agreed settlement with Ofgem for the next 8 years. As a member of the ENA Gas Futures Group, Steve has helped shape a number of contributions as the group continues to make future energy policy. Steve is also a Board Member of Energy Networks Association and in 2011 gave evidence on behalf of Energy Networks Association to the Energy Select Committee on the future role for gas in the UK. Energy is also a key issue for the devolved nations and Steve is a member of the Welsh Government Energy and Advisory Panel.

    Angus McIntosh

    SGN, Angus McIntosh Head of Innovation

    Following graduation from Aberdeen University, Angus (Gus) started working for BG Group some 15 years ago. He has since performed a variety of roles in gas distribution, from asset management, network design, engineering policy, operations and strategy. He currently heads up SGN’s Innovation and New Technology Team. Starting largely from scratch in 2012 he’s built a portfolio of R&D projects with a value in excess of £50m. Most important to note is that SGN have committed more than £20m to the rollout of innovation into business as usual. Key breakthroughs have included keyhole technology (the core & vac), robotics and gas quality (Oban). Gus now sits on the European Working Group for Gas Quality with Marcogaz and is supporting IGEM with its strategic review.
