About the session

The UK energy industry has four years to install more than 30 million domestic smart meters, in one of the biggest government-mandated infrastructure programmes of a generation. The mass rollout has been delayed several times, and is now due to officially begin in April 2016.  This seminar will explore the operational challenges for delivery of the programme.

    Paul Smith

    Paul has a wealth of industry experience primarily in electricity distribution and metering, having previously worked for East Midlands Electricity, PowerGen, Central Networks and E.ON. In more recent times, he has focussed on the GB Smart Meter Implementation Programme and Smarter Distribution Networks.Amongst other areas of work, Paul currently provides consultancy support to the Association of Meter Operators and Energy and Utility Skills. He is Chair of MOCoPA, The SMIP ODG (Operational Delivery Group), is a member of the SMICoP Governance Board and represents AMO and EUS on a number of other industry groups.For the last few years Paul has concentrated on helping towards making the Smart Meter installation experience good for the customer and safe for the installer, making sure that problems found at the service position are dealt with quickly and effectively.
