    Mike Cowen

    MasterCard, Product Manager

    Mike Cowen is product manager for the MasterCard range of payment solutions for public transport. He is based in the MasterCard London office, and works closely with MasterCard staff in the USA, in Europe and across the globe. Mike was part of the team behind the successful launch in 2005 of a world first: a new MasterCard solution bringing open payments to the public transport system in Taiwan. More recently Mike led the MasterCard team which in conjunction with Stagecoach and RBS launched the first ever use of contactless bankcard payments on public transport in the UK (Liverpool, 2009). In 2000, Mike was recruited by Mondex International as technical product manager. He joined the MasterCard Chip Centre of Excellence in 2003 as a member of the Chip Product Management Team transferring in June 2007 to the newly formed Global Transit group. Mike's previous experience includes ten years in the electronic security industry, where he specialised in access control and identification technologies in particular advanced RFID technologies. He began his career in the industry as a systems engineer, later moving into sales and then product management.
