A new £50 million investment in research at Swansea University, which will host one of the UK's most powerful computers, is focused on discovering radical ways to treat disease and deliver health care. Life science is recognised as one of the most fertile sources of technology transfer in the world and the Institute of Life Science (ILS) has the potential to create massive economic wealth. This could come from developments in the knowledge economy, through research, intellectual property licensing, spinout companies and inward investment.
