About the session
Electric drivetrains have existed in the Automotive industry for over 100 years but environmental pressures in recent years have resulted in a rapid acceleration in their popularity. In this presentation, Angus Lyon will talk about the developments in EV drivetrains in the automotive and motorsport industries and, in particular, explain the technologies that are currently being used or developed at the leading edge of both industries. Angus has over 20 years of experience within the automotive and motorsport industries. Working for Land Rover, BMW, Prodrive and championship winning F1 teams Honda/Brawn and Renault, Angus gained a strong and in-depth understanding of all areas of active vehicle systems from suspension to engine and transmissions. In the last 6 years Angus has developed electric motors and EV systems for Protean and Drayson Technologies including the world land speed record holding Drayson B12 EV race car. In 2013, Angus setup Rockfort Engineering Ltd, a vehicle systems and safety consultancy specialising in EV/HEV technologies for both road and race applications.
