Abstract
In this #Engshort, we ask... Do I need to buy a car? Over 77% of households in the UK have a #car. It’s seen as the most effective way of getting exactly where you want to be. But as towns and cities become more congested and running costs increase, we ask 'is it a good idea to buy a car?'
A ban on new #petrol and #diesel cars in UK from #2030 has been announced under the PM's green plan meaning that from 2030 we will see only #electriccars and potentially #hydrogencars being manufactured. New cars and vans powered wholly by petrol and diesel will not be sold in the UK from 2030. So, with an emphasis on #cycling, walking and #zeroemission public transport for the future... will we need to buy a car at all?
