About the session
Presentation Summary
Germany has set ambitious climate targets: the country aims to be climate-neutral by 2045. An efficient and sustainable electrical energy supply will play a crucial role in achieving this goal and so will the future power grid.
The three German transmission system operators - 50Hertz, TenneT and TransnetBW - want to jointly push forward this grid of the future. The current 2037/2045 grid development plan foresees the interconnection of three separate MTDC projects using DC switching stations, thereby laying the foundation for a DC overlay grid. This has significant advantages for the electricity transmission, but also challenges especially in case of the interconnection of multi-vendor configurations.
