Rapid evolution of optical component architectures requires photonic technology that combines high levels of integration with low cost and rapid product ramp capabilities. We review Intel Silicon Photonics technologies and components developed for 400 Gb/s pluggable transceiver applications and scalable to the next generation Tb/s optics.
