About the session

Industry is facing a landscape of considerable market systems change with the introduction of Project Nexus, switching to smart metering and the challenges of integrating smart, the DCC and next day switching.  How are these system changes interrelated, how can they be delivered effectively and concurrently? What are the likely implications and challenges and what systems and processes will offer the smoothest transition?  All of these processes will be critical to how consumers experience and respond to the retail energy market.

    Stuart Cook is head of utility strategy and regulation at PwC. He advises power and utility clients on strategic and regulatory issues, and works with clients to help them delivery their strategic aims and address industry challenges. He has worked in the power and utilities industry for over 25 years.Stuart is a former member of the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority, the Board of Ofgem, the energy regulator. Whilst with Ofgem, Stuart was Senior Partner, Smarter Grids & Governance and was responsible for transmission and distribution network policy. He also served as Managing Director, Ofgem E-Serve and IT.Before joining Ofgem, Stuart worked as a consultant and advised leading international utilities clients on strategy, regulation and the delivery of organisation change.

    Adam has 10 years experience, all of which has been for PCMG conducting cost recovery and optimisation audits. Joining PCMG as a trainee, Adam became a Senior Analyst in less than 2 years. Adam has worked on some of the UK’s biggest Telecoms users on their Private Circuit bills. Adam predominantly analyses BT Private Circuits, BT Openreach and BT Wholesale, and has recovered over £17m in his time at PCMG, and implemented annual savings of approx £1.7m. Adam holds a 1st Class Honours degree in Mathematics from Lancaster University.

    Audrey Gallacher is Director of Retail Energy Supply at Energy UK, responsible for the teams working on energy retail policy, operations and the smart meter programme.Audrey has an extensive background in the energy sector, initially with the regulator Ofgem as Head of Consumer Affairs in Scotland. She moved into energy consumer advocacy in 2000 when she became National Director in Scotland for energywatch, before moving to lead its GB work on company performance, research and advice. More recently she has held Director of Energy positions with the statutory watchdog, Consumer Futures and at the charity Citizens Advice.Audrey’s role at Energy UK is about helping ensure consumers remain central in the development and delivery of our members' policies and processes. She is committed to representing an energy supply sector that delivers great service and value, and most importantly treats its customers fairly.
