Abstract
Description: In this #EngShort we look at the UK’s future #energy needs. Our future energy needs are tied to the delivery of #NetZero, energy independence, and other national imperatives. However, almost all the UK’s current #SustainablePowerPlants are due to be retired by 2050. This means the renewable assets the UK now relies on will need re-powering by then. The UK has six primary renewable energy resources. They are #solar and #wind power, #tidal and #wave power, #biofuels and #geothermal heat. While they are all freely available, each resource presents specific challenges. Developing #renewable energy is important but reducing the need for energy is also a priority. Can renewables be treated as endless energy or are they a precious resource to be conserved? Comment below to share your thoughts.
