  • 00:9 - 00:9
  • Duration: 18 mins
  • Publication date: 09 Apr 2014
  • Location: IETTV_Room, IETTV_Venue, Manchester, United Kingdom
  • Part of event 7th International Conference on Power, Electronics, Machines & Drives (PEMD 2014)

About the session

Recently, research interests have been paid on 2-pole 3-slot permanent magnet (PM) machines due to their simple rotor and stator combination for high-speed applications in the automotive industry. However, it is widely recognized that, due to the diametrically asymmetric stator structure, an unbalanced magnetic force occurs in both no-load and load conditions. In this presentation, the investigation has been focused on the behaviour of the unbalanced magnetic force in the no-load condition. Methods for the reduction of the no-load unbalanced magnetic force have been explored. Various design parameters have been considered and the investigation has been carried out by 2D finite-element (FE) analyses.
