    Marcelo Blumenfeld is a PhD candidate at the at the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education at the University of Birmingham, where he is using systems engineering and back-casting methods to develop an optimised Metro system for megalopoleis. With an MSc in Transport Planning and a BA in Industrial Design, his main areas of interest are the design of complex systems and the application of future technologies in sustainable transport. Marcelo was a speaker at the TEDx University of Leeds 2012, and has since written various articles on the future of sustainable mobility for organisations such as JMP, EMBARQ, and Mobilize.
