About the session
The pedestrian Neatebox offers a digital enhancement to the pedestrian crossing system and aims to bring the operation of the control box into the hand of the crossing user. At this time a person wishing to use a pedestrian crossing must press the control box button manually. This can be a challenging task for someone with an impairment which has reduced their mobility, be they blind, visually impaired or using a mobility vehicle or wheelchair. The button box may not be adjacent to the crossing, and locating the button can leave the pedestrian without time to take up the optimum safe crossing position prior to crossing. Neatebox removes the requirement to make physical contact with the control box optimising user safety and control.
The main theme of the ITS Glasgow Congress was ‘Delivering Future Cities Now’. The ITS demonstrations at Glasgow highlighted the successful implementations of ITS throughout Europe, with focus on the use of data from a variety of sources to provide a more informed and integrated choice to the travelling public. The demonstrations emphasised proven deployed ITS solutions and innovative research and development systems. The IET was busy filming at the ITS European Congress in Glasgow in order to bring you the latest Intelligent Transport solutions being trialled on our streets.
