This presentation identifies the protection system lifecycle and the potential modes of failure. The stages of the protection relay lifecycle are then evaluated from a manufacturers' perspective. Dependent on the lifecycle phase, services and refurbishment strategies are identified, which maximise protection system asset value, thus minimising risk to the power system.
